| 15th Canadian Skills Competition Saskatchewan competitors earn 15 medals |

Charlottetown, May 25, 2009 – Forty-three of the best and brightest apprentices and high school students from Saskatchewan are returning home after competing in two intense days of competition at the 15th Canadian Skills Competition held in beautiful Charlottetown, PEI on May 20-23, 2009. Saskatchewan competitors captured 15 medals including: 2 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze. The competition is Canada’s largest national multi-trade and technology
competition for Canadian students and apprentices. An incredible
display of hands-on expertise, talent and determination, the
competition showcased the promising futures to be found in trades and
technology careers. The event attracted over 500 young Canadians competing in 43 skilled trade and technology areas. Each year, thousands of high school and college students as well as young apprentices across Canada vie for a chance to represent their provinces or territories at this prestigious event with the hope of returning home with medals and launching a career in the trades. “The mission of Skills Canada Saskatchewan is to promote skilled trades and technologies as a first-choice career option for youth in Saskatchewan,” says Conrad E. Pura, Executive Director of Skills Canada Saskatchewan. “An event like this turns the spotlight on the best young trade and technology students from across the country.”
