SCS Provincial Competition

2024 Skills Canada Saskatchewan Provincial Competition (SCSPC) – Wrap Up

Though it was not everything we had hoped for, we are pleased with the outcome of the 2024 competition and want to thank all of our volunteers, alumni, provincial technical committee members, sponsors and suppliers, board of directors, judges, competition host partners and everyone who supported us in preparing for our flagship event.

Working with Campus Regina Public and SaskPolytech Regina Campus, we were busy planning to host:

  • Over 30 competitions, representing six sectors
  • Three competitions representing Indigenous skills
  • Two demonstration competitions: Cloud Computing and Game Development
  • Over 260 Competitors from secondary and post-secondary
  • Over 80 Provincial Technical Committee members dedicated their time and knowledge in preparing their skill areas
  • Over 25 external judges registered
  • Over 40 volunteers prepared to assist SCS onsite during set-up and competition day
  • Closing Ceremony planned to take place at Campus Regina Public to showcase all the medal winners
  • Over 40 Partners to be showcased at both Campus Regina Public and SaskPolytech Regina
  • Over 1500 student visitors invited
  • WITT Young Women’s Conference

March 18, 2024

We had to use our Skills for Success and adapt to a changing environment and cancel all secondary competitions, their advisors, volunteers, registered school tours, partners, many of our provincial technical committee members, board members and others. Using communications skills, adaptability, problem solving and creativity we succeeded in pivoting and ensuring that our Post-Secondary competitions still took place as planned.

March 22, 2024

  • 70 registered post-secondary competitors
  • 15 trade and technology competitions
  • Six locations – Style Academy, SaskPolytech Moose Jaw, Saskatoon and Regina, BAC Local 1, Regina, Sheet Metal Workers, Local 296
  • Over 40 provincial technical committee members and judges
  • WITT Young Women’s Conference with over 40 grade 8 girls in attendance

SCS was disappointed for all of our registered secondary students who could not compete this year. We once again quickly adapted to give registered students an opportunity to submit applications in their skill area to go to the Skills Canada National Competition with Team Sask in Quebec City from May 28 to June 2, 2024. Team Sask will be announced via social media and posted on the SCNC page to showcase the team that we are proud to be bringing to the Skills Canada National Competition.

We are looking forward to planning the 2025 SCSPC and welcoming many competitors in both secondary and post-secondary to come and show-off their skills for a chance to win a gold medal and advance onto the next level at the 2025 SCNC.
